A great day, warm and sunny, for the food market. Loads of people out, strolling, eating and listening to Tom and Lucas, two of our young guitarists. First time that Lucas has played for us. Lots of their friends sitting and watching, so we hope that some of them will join in next time. About 100 people passing today.
Once again the annual Battle of the Bands took place in the Royal Grammar School. We had three of our bands performing: the Distance, Flat Stanleys and Little Buffalo Men. Most of the other bands were older and unfortunately none of ours were in the final top three. However, they had a great time and it was a good experience for everyone.
Eleven bands performed in total, 14 performers (all boys) were in our bands. There were about 200 people in the audience, other musicians and family members. Once again, Little Buffalo Men performed for us on Armstrong Bridge. The weather is getting better and a lot of people were out, sampling the amazing range of food stalls. Three male members of the band were here today and played for around an hour and a half. Probably about 150 people passed by, many stopping to listen. We have had lots of positive comments about the music on the bridge, with both stall holders and the public saying that they enjoy having the music as well as the stalls. Members of the the public come from both Jesmond and Heaton as well as further afield.
After a couple of freezing Saturday mornings when it was far too cold for our musicians to play, Little Buffalo Men and Maxine performed at the Armstrong Food market. This was one of the events during the Jesmond festival, the sun was shining (most of the time), and loads of people were around, enjoying an array of specialist food stalls. Quite a few people stopped to listen, put money in our collecting bucket for the Jesmond festival and commented on how good it is to have live music at the market. We had 5 young performers, 4 boys and 1 girl, and around 100 people passed by and enjoyed the music.
A grand celebration at the O2, featuring young people who have been supporting us at our fundraisers. Tonight's bands included the Distance, Rock Project Seniors, None of the Above and Little Buffalo Men, and our soloists were Zak, Liam and Emily. A total of 20 young people, 17 boys and 3 girls. About 180 people were in the audience.
