Willi's Cafe

This afternoon we held the first of monthly acoustic events in Willi’s Café, in South Jesmond. Maxine Mallon played guitar and sang and accompanied her friend, Louise Whittaker. James Harrison also played a few numbers. The music was enjoyed by an audience of about 30 people, including many family members and friends.

Cricket Club AGM

Newcastle Cricket Club in Jesmond has kindly looked after our musical equipment for the last five years. As a thank you, we offered to provide a musical background for their AGM this year. James, our Youth Worker, played a selection of gentle, background music, at the start of the AGM, as members were assembling. There were about 15 members attending the meeting.

The Next Generation

The evening started with Team Rock from the Rock Project playing covers of old rock songs with a great harmonica solo. They were followed by the Distance, using ukulele, acoustic guitar and keyboard. Then Kouranga, playing blues rock, bordering on metal. The final set was meant to be Forty Thieves, but just as everybody was leaving, the Pasolas surprised us by performing one last song.
In total we had 23 young people performing tonight, nearly 100 friends and family members came to support them, two thirds young people and one third adults. We took over £170 on the door, one of our few events where we made a profit! We finished on a high as many of the band members helped to put away the equipment at the end.
