The wonderful Stray Light headlined City Youth Musics Christmas boogie at the O2 Academy, Newcastle on 23 December. With support from Little Buffalo Men, The Distance, None of the Above and The Samphires.
It was one of our most successful nights yet with over 200 people enjoying a thumping start to Christmas.
Acoustic night at Ernest
City Youth Music once again hosted a very successful acoustic night at the wonderfully eclectic Ernest in the Ouseburn Valley on Sunday 22 October.
The Cluny - 20/08/17
City Youth Music hosted its first gig at the Cluny on 20 August and it went down a storm with both the audience and the bands. The line up was exceptional with solo acts like Bethany Veal who was joined by Issy Leonard, the excellent folk music of Zak Younger Banks, the eclectic sound of the Samphires, the raw energy of None of the Above and the musical maestros that are the Little Buffalo Men. There were almost some tears at the end when Little Buffalo Men who have grown with City Youth music over many years announced that they needed a new basis as Robert was off to University in September.
The evening was such success that the Cluny management have invited us to use their venue again. If you are interested in playing at the Cluny then get in touch. We are planning on a gig around January 2018.
On 1st April we are hosted another bands night, at Newcastle College’s Space Bar, it was a fantastic new venue for us just outside of the City Centre. The event was very successful and we will be hosting another there soon.
Doing different (not an AGM)
City Youth Music are known for its musicians not its committee, so after a very brief annual meeting elected a new committee, it got on with the important stuff. Some great soloists and bands played showing the wide variety of talented musicians that City Youth Music work with across a wide variety of events.
A nice and relaxing start to the new year, with Lucas, Issy
and the Little Buffalo Men performing at Ernest
café. We completely filled the room with a good audience, w
ho created a good atmosphere for a very nice
event. There were about 30 in the audience in total, and 6 perf
ormers, 5 male and 1 female.
Acorn Road Christmas market, Jesmond
Jesmond Cricket Club Fundraiser
A successful and well attended fundraiser at Jesmond Cricket Club, featuring Issy, The Flat Stanleys, The Distance, Little Buffalo Men and None of the Above. About 100 people were in the audience, and helped to raise a lot of money to help fund future projects.
Jesmond Library Student Welcome Event
City Youth Music provided music for Jesmond Library's open student e
vent, a chance for new Newcastle and
Northumbria University students living in Jesmond to investigate the
volunteering possibilities available in the
area. We were well received and got lots of questions from
those attending. 5 boys and 1 girl played, and there
were around 50 people coming and going at the event.
Armstrong Bridge Food Market
Tom, Lucas and Robert performed at the Jesmond food market this month, and raised some money for City Youth Music. Around 30 people listened in passing.
This page will be kept up to date with all past events.
