A glorious morning, the sun shone at last, and we advertised the festival with some great young musicians: Max on the trumpet, Austin on the sax and Little Buffalo Men played some wonderful, relaxing, laid-back music. We got lots of positive feedback, people passing by said how good it was to have live music in Acorn Road. We put out a collecting bucket for the festival and raised about £40.

A wonderful evening, we raised over £600 towards our O2 events. We had performances from Emily Davidson Music, Liam Cartwright, The Rock Project Newcastle, None of the Above, The Flat Stanleys, Little Buffalon Men and The Distance. 22 boys performing, though only 3 girls. 100 family members and friends turned up to support the event.
We held our Annual General Meeting at Jesmond Cricket Club, showcasing many of our brilliant solo artists and a few of our bands, as well as dealing with the boring stuff, acquiring a couple of new board members, and introducing our new youth worker. We had 7 soloists and 3 bands, including Max, Maxine, Chloe, Fynn, Zak, Adam, Fiona, None of the Above, the Distance and Little Buffalo Men. Altogether there were 3 girls and 17 boys. A total of around 50 people came to listen and participate.
Thank you very much to everyone who performed, as well as everyone who came along and supported them! The last official performance by Ethan, our youth worker. He was joined by brother Zak, and by Maxine. About 10 family members and friends joined in. A very chilled evening.
We weren't able to provide any performers for the food market last month as it had been far too cold. Still freezing, but Ethan and Zak, our regular performers still fearlessly braved the cold weather. About 15 people stopped to listen.
Another new opportunity and new venue, Ernest in the Ouseburn. A wonderful, relaxing, peaceful evening in the back room of the bar. 5 young people (Ethan, Zak and Alfie, Emily and Maxine) performed to an audience of around 10 people, with about 5 more having a look in from time to time, as well as potential others in the main bar area listening in without making themselves known. We hope that we can make this a regular event, showcasing young talent on a monthly basis.
The first of a new set of opportunities to perform in Jesmond, in Starbuck's on St George's Terrace. Tonight we had Ethan and Zak, on accordian and guitar. There were about 15 people in the cafe, listening. Austin was in line to play the saxophone, though opted out with pre-gig nerves. We plan to be back at Starbuck's again soon, with some new performers and perhaps a return of Austin!
Our most recent big gig at the O2 academy was a huge success, with over 200 people in the audience. We had 4 amazing young bands perform; Little Buffalo Men, the Flat Stanleys, Open Doors, and Divine Crown. Altogether 17 young people, 16 boys and one girl, performed and every one put on a great show.
Our survey of a sample the audience indicated that the majority of our audience were from Heaton (perhaps due to two of the four bands also coming from that region) with Jesmond the second most represented region. The largest age group was 15-18, showing that the bands attracted a real following, not just family members. Overall the gig was very well received and enjoyed by audience and bands alike, and we hope to continue to put on performances of this standard. The last food market of the year. Many stalls and lots of customers as it was a wonderful, warm, December morning. We are becoming popular and the organizers of the food market asked if we could play longer this time. Our performers this time were Ethan, Lucas from the Distance and Maxine. Between us we managed to play for about 2 hours, about 25 people stopped to listen and we raised over £20.
